Content marketing is a marketing method used by businesses all over the world. As some methods of traditional marketing are becoming less effective, the use of content marketing is on the rise.
Content marketing focuses on creating and then distributing relevant, valuable and quality content with the aim of both retaining and gaining new customers. Instead of just pitching your products or services to customers, you are indirectly pitching your whole brand while also giving customers answers to their issues and interesting information.
There are three key benefits to using content marketing which are:
- Increased sales.
- Cost savings.
- Quality customers who have are loyal to the company.
Companies send their potential customers information all the time, the difference is it is not always relevant or very good quality and is often considered as spam. With content marketing, customers should look forward to receiving it and read or look at it out of choice, not because it is forced at them from all angles.
There are many different types of content marketing out there, but some argue one of the most successful methods is using video. A few years ago, creating videos was often just not possible. It was expensive and time consuming, required a lot of skill and specialist technology. Today however, this is all changing, and it is getting easier and easier for companies to create their own videos, or it is more affordable to pay another company to do it for them.
Studies suggest that people who view videos about a company are 1.81 times more likely to make a purchase than those that do not watch it. This alone should make companies think twice about if creating a video would be worth it. Visual content is 40 times more likely to get shared on social media than other types of content, therefore it is shared with potentially thousands of other people free and without the company having to do anything themselves.
It also is 50 times easier for the company to get ranked on the first page of google if they have a video on their site or blog. Plus, by using a video as content means that there could be a 157% increase in organic traffic from search engines alone. Even if creating a video is time consuming and pricey, a quality video is definitely worth it in the long run.
The three most effective types of video content are:
- Customer testimonials.
- Videos that explain products or different types of phenomenon.
- Tutorial videos and demonstration videos.
Users will actively seek out this kind of content and from this will subconsciously be learning about the company that produced the content.
In the past, companies might not have dreamed of using a video with the aim of promoting their business, but now businesses would almost be missing out if they didn’t make use of this valuable asset. With the ability to put videos on a range of platforms, email, social media, blogs, websites etc., the potential is endless.
